About Me

My full name is Grant Alexander Bowers. I live in the North Portland, Oregon metro, on the north side of the Columbia River. I have 5 siblings, four of which are older than me, the youngest of those being 28. All the older ones are females, and three of them have married, moved out, and have children. Their names are Shaunna, Erika, and LeAnne. The one that is still at home is Kristine, the youngest. I also have a younger brother, Ethan. My Dad works as a computer program writer. My mother has home schooled us all for the most part (all my sisters did at least one grade at various times at a public/private school).
I am a Protestant Christian. More specifically, I adhere to most Reformed doctrines, and believe strongly in the Doctrines of Grace. For much of my life, I went to a Reformed Presbyterian Church, and what I learned from there (and what I have learned since) has shaped my theological beliefs. My family holds to postmillennialism, and I firmly believe in padeobaptism (Infant Baptism/Covenant Baptism).
As I already mentioned, I've been home schooled my entire life. I'm hopefully going to do the rest of my education from home, INCLUDING College, by doing CLEP and Dauntes tests while in high-school, and then going on from there by hopefully doing online classes for the rest. My pursuits have become centered around law, and (Lord-willing) would like to major in criminal justice (criminal prosecution), and minor in some area of history.
In the area of entertainment, I enjoy many hobbies and interests. Many are outdoor activities. I've always loved nature, and thoroughly enjoy fishing, hiking, and hopefully hunting in the near future. :) In things pertaining to the sports, I love anything to do with a Frisbee (ultimate, disk golf, and just throwing that beauty around), dodgeball, biking (cycling), fishing, and karate. I'm a blue belt in Japanese Karate (Shio Karano Ryu). That's...4 belts from black, and...7 from the bottom? Yeah. I think that's right. I've biked approximately 1,500 miles in the last three years, and loved every moment of it. Well, not EVERY moment. When it's 100 degrees, your riding on a flat road, and you don't have much water...yeah. Not too pleasant. :) But other than that, it's a great sport, and look forward to the good weather and long rides every year.
Books...I read a LOT. My favorite types are fantasy, historical, and theological. In fantasy, I thoroughly enjoy the LotR books and the Hobbit, and am also a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia, the Inheritance Cycle, and Redwall. Of them all, my favorites are most decidedly LotR and Inheritance. In the historical ring, I have read a lot of resources, but not as many books. I LOVE reading through the encyclopdia on historical subjects, and browsing other historical sites on certain subjects I feel inspired to read up on. In the theological arena, I am just beginning to enjoy books/articles by CS Lewis, RC Sproul, Gary DeMar, and the Reformers.
In the area of movies. Over the years, our family has collected a number of edited films, many of which are my favorites. At the top is either Lord of the Rings or Inception (2010). I also enjoyed Band of Brothers, the Patriot (Mel Gibson), the Chronicles of Narnia (newer), Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and others. Another genre of film I like is animation. Pixar, and DreamWorks are the companies I like best. :) Probably my favorites are Monsters Inc., How to Train your Dragon, and the Incredibles.
There is a bit about me. And pardon my writing skills. They need some serious attention, I know. :)
